Modern Farm Homes: Professionally Designed & Built

PORTFOLIO

Velvet Grove

Velvet Grove was inspired by the old two pitch 'witch hat' roof line.  This roof framing technique dates back thousands of years before the use of rough cut lumber. You will see agricultural roof lines like this in every corner of the world.

Covered Bridge

“My husband and I love it as much, if not more, as the day we laid eyes on it. We toured the "Covered Bridge" home at the time of completion, at the open house. We were fascinated by the design. Coming originally from Pennsylvania, we were very familiar with covered bridges. Never once as we passed through one of these bridges, did we ever think of making it a home or think it was even possible. So here lies Bob's abilities to look at something and let his creativity go to work…This home is a simple, thoughtful; functional design. A design tested with time. Masterful carpentry with materials that have been lovingly salvaged and have a patina that only time can create. Gorgeous barnwood and old oak. So warm and inviting. Attention to the smallest detail. Such as the pyramid head nails, stainless steel screws. Industrial, rustic, farmhouse, is all incorporated into our home. Have I mentioned the catwalk between the two lofts!! A few of us homeowners, who are in the Etchell builds, like to think of ourselves as sort of in a club. We all appreciate and love our clever and artsy homes. They are profoundly well built. They are not tract homes. I've had a lifetime of those. Blessed to have the opportunity to call one of Bob's creations home ‘our sanctuary’.” (Rita & Joe Hicky)

The Ridge

“Working with you on the design, build, and execution of our home is something I reflect upon regularly. Every time our family stays in our house, we preach your praises. The attention to detail, the craftsmanship, and the lasting integrity of this home are unmatched. The home almost requires zero maintenance. For the most part, the house looks no different today as it did when first completed. We were not easy clients to please. You handled our constant communications well and shared our desire to create something unique. Clearly, the end product is just that“  (Jim Abdo)

“I’m a fan of Bob Etchells’ homes. In 2008, my husband and I were looking for a modern-rustic retirement home in the mountains. We looked at homes in Ithaca, NY; Lake Tahoe, NV; and Sedona, AZ. The homes were very nice, but we didn’t get that “wow” feeling we expected. By chance, my husband was looking through a magazine and saw an ad for House in Montana (Bob’s company). The picture of the house in the ad caught our attention and we knew we had to fly to Montana and see it in person. Bob graciously invited us to not only tour the house, but to stay in it during our visit. WOW! As soon as I opened the front door and saw the mountains through the over-sized picture window, I knew ‘the’ house was ‘our’ house. We were in a state of ‘awe’ as we toured the 2,700 square feet of quality craftmanship from the reverse sawing technique used on the wood floors to the metal light fixtures that perfectly compliment the ten-foot ceiling in the living room. The flow of the house exudes a peaceful feeling that I was personally searching for. Fifteen years later, our home is still our peaceful place. We ABSOLUTELY love it!” (Gina Mello)

“My wife Stephanie and I fell in love with Bob’s work back in 2007. We purchased an interesting piece of land outside of Rexford, with a steep gradient. We asked Bob to build our dream cabin, something small and rustic that fit into our budget. He agreed and spend extra hours on the land imagining what would be the best fit for us with our unique requests and piece of land. We went back and forth with many ideas and Bob came up with the perfect design. We knew that his materials and workmanship were outstanding from viewing his previous homes, but we didn’t know that his vision for our little cabin would bring us joy for years to come! Every time we walk into our place, we smell the fantastic wood fragrance and feel the warmth from the design. Bob talked about the feeling of being in a tree house when he was creating the top floor and we still feel this when we sit and relax in the open concept space. I believe Bob is a master of his craft and unique in creating spaces that are special for each client.”  (Scott Davis)
